Happy Land

TCM’s NOW PLAYING guide for April lists tonight as Frances Dee night. However the TCM website lists tonight as Faye Dunaway night and if you do a Happy Land search it lists May 17 as Frances Dee night, well whichever night this movie is premiered it is well worth watching.
Rochellelynn this is not a romantic comedy as I had assumed when I first watched it on the moviestvnetwork last year.
A 1943 Twentieth Century Fox movie, Happy Land is more of a ‘homefront’ parental point of view rather than the younger brother point of view of MGM ‘s more frequently heard of film ‘A Human Comedy’ which was released four months after Happy Land.
This week would have been the perfect time to preview Happy Land as this week is the 100th Anniversary of the United States entering WWI which began for the rest of the world in 1914.
And since this is character actor month on TCM here is a shout out for a very young Harry Morgan who appears towards the end of the movie and a shout out for the first screen appearance of a very very young Natalie Wood losing her Ice Cream cone before Marsh’s Drug store.
Happy Land: Get the tissues ready this one is a soaker!
