Remembering Eleanor Parker

June 26, 1922 ~ December 9, 2013

Eleanor Parker started out in film as a Warner Brothers girl. Her most notorious role was as the ‘Baroness’ in The Sound of Music.

Here at Classic Hollywood Rochellelynn and I prefer to remember Eleanor for one of her lighter Holiday roles costarring with Errol Flynn in ‘Never Say Goodbye’. Playing a divorced wife trying to get back together again with her ex-husband over the holidays. Throughout her career Eleanor acted toe to toe with some of our favorite leading men: Dennis Morgan, John Garfield, Errol Flynn, and Clark Gable to name a few. Her diverse roles garnered her best actress nominations for three films; Caged 1950, Detective Story 1951, Interrupted Melody 1955.  We’ll miss you Eleanor but we’ll never say goodbye.
