Angela Lansbury Born October 16, 1925
Starting in films in 1944, Angela Lansbury began her career with an Oscar nominated first role at the age of 19 in Gaslight. Quickly after came National Velvet, and The Picture of Dorian Gray ( another Oscar nominated performance). And while her amazing ability to act quickly gained her respect and success in the profession, it was also the reason she was often cast in heavy supporting roles, and parent roles to co-stars near her own age. Discontented she began to concentrate on Broadway, winning four Tony awards in a sixteen year run. From there she fell into Disney films like Bedknobs and Broomsticks and voiced Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. Of course her Murder She Wrote fame gained her a whole new audience in the 1980’s. Still going strong she most recently acted in Mr. Poppers Penguins in 2011.
An American institution if ever there was one, Angela was able to stretch into areas that allowed her acting career to grow and morph. A true model of what one can do with an acting career, we are thrilled to be taking today to honor her Birthday.
Happy Birthday Angela Lansbury! Thanks for reaching out to us in so many ways through the years. You are an inspiration.:)
